What A Weekend
Sunday, January 28th, 2007 at 1:17 amSo I bought a pack of cigarettes tonight.
And I know, I’m a terrible person, but I’ve been all sorts of pissy lately and I figure it’s best for everyone if I just go back to smoking so I’m deal-with-able. I installed Call of Duty so I could kill Nazis, but that hasn’t been as therapeutic as I hoped.
But anyway, Casey and Matt are in Baltimore for the weekend, so a few of us went up to hang out with them at Matt’s sister’s place, and then we spent the afternoon today wandering around DC and protesting a little bit, and then I took a nap. It was nice.
I’m trying to get the DC chapter of the Sunday Night Film Club going. Last week, a few of us saw Curse of the Golden Flower (which was disappointing), and this week, we were going to see The Good Shepherd, but I’ve heard it’s pretty slow and boring, so I’m going to pick a different one. But I’ll keep y’all posted on SNFC dealing.

No you’re not terrible :). You do what you have to do. People that haven’t gotten addicted don’t understand how hard it is. People also shouldn’t scold smokers so much because they only need to hear it once (and should have heard it when just starting to smoke before it became an addiction) — because it’s not a repetitive choosing to do the stupid thing, it’s that you chose it long ago and since then it’s been the addiction that keeps you there (I’m not saying that a smoker shouldn’t be accountable, just that they don’t need to be condemned constantly when there’s more to it than non-smokers realize, and I don’t smoke!).
Props to those that make the effort to quit because it isn’t easy.

Elsie - Thanks for being understanding. I’m sure I’ll catch plenty of flak from my non-smoking friends, but I figure I just need to make it to Thursday, and then I’m off to lovely San Francisco for a week, where stress shouldn’t be (and damn well better not be) an issue.
Grahams - I certainly will. I figured I’d give it a month or two before I asked you to put anything up, like you suggested. We’ll see how it goes.
