The Real McCain 2
Monday, May 19th, 2008 at 1:01 pmPlease don’t vote for McCain. Unless you’re over 60, you have no excuse. McCain is older than the Golden Gate Bridge, chocolate chip cookies, Alaska, and Bugs Bunny. Is that ageism? Maybe, but I don’t think it’s too much to expect a president to survive his term. And come on, the world is changing faster and faster every day - we need someone that can keep up and has a chance of understanding the technology that drives it. If a president has to be over 35, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say they should be under 70, too.
Vote for Barack Obama. You know, unless you hate America.

<devil’s advocate>If the ages of the canidates were reversed; a young and charming rebulican candidate (who’s politics you disagree with) versus an older and less well-spoken democrat(whom you agree with), would the age thing bother you as much? Also, keep in mind that when the over 35 restriction was written the life expectancy was not what it is today. When Bob Dole ran against Bill Clinton, people kept bringing up his age as a reason to not vote for him. They said that he would not live through a complete term, yet three terms later, he’s still kicking.</devil’s advocate>
Though there is something to the old president thing. Regan announced that he had been diagnosed with alzheimer’s in 94, but there has been speculation that he may have been symptomatic while in office.
