Magic Hat Redux

Sunday, December 31st, 2006 at 1:07 pm

For those of you unhappy with my opinion of Circus Boy, rest assured: I tried Widmer’s Hefeweizen last night.

And I was underwhelmed.

It was bland. Not TOO bland; I mean, I’d drink it again for sure, but it definitely didn’t have as much flavor as Circus Boy. Like Tom said, that may be because I don’t know what a hefeweizen is “supposed” to taste like, but all the same, I think it’s delicious.

Magic Hat

Fonny used to drink Magic Hat No. 9 back when I lived with him at RIT. I tried it a couple times while I was still there, but didn’t really appreciate it until a few months ago: our pub has it on tap. I picked up a six pack of their Circus Boy (a Hefeweizen) a couple weeks ago and it was like liquid joy. I’ve since picked up a couple sixers of Circus Boy and some more No. 9, and now I’m working my way through a Feast of Fools mix pack, and I’ve spent most of the past week singing their praises and musing at the fact that I didn’t appreciate the Rochester brewery until long after I’d moved away.

Thing is, they’re in Vermont, not Rochester.

Which doesn’t seem as important as it did when I started this post. The important thing is that you get a sixer of Circus Boy. Liquid joy, seriously.

Manly Wine

I’m drinking kittie wine, but it’s OK because I’m using my Turtles mug.

NaDruWriNi, Conclusion

Sunday, November 5th, 2006 at 1:26 am

Things are winding down at Brockstone Manor. The only people left are those that were planning to spend the night, so we’re just kind of hanging out. We never went dumpster diving or anything, but it was a good evening.

Good night.

Sarah’s gonna be a Cougar in ten years. Just for the record.

NaDruWriNi, Part 5

I am very tired. Katie can’t work a cigarrette. We’ve been listening to country music and people are talking about sushi.

NaDruWriNi, Part 3

Saturday, November 4th, 2006 at 10:31 pm

We’ve had our first altercation, involving a few crotch shots with stress balls, but I got my hockey helmet so The Boys are OK.

Also, I like to use my hockey gloves when I drink because it makes me feel like Optimus Prime.

NaDruWriNi, Part 1

NaDruWriWni 2006 has begun! Some folks are here, we’re heading out for dinner shortly, and I’ve already had a couple whiskey and cokes.

Go!

NaDruWriNi 2006 Is A Go

Friday, October 20th, 2006 at 9:31 pm

Thanks to Miss Hannah, I’ve learned that Brittanie has made a post concerning NaDruWriNi, which is good because now I don’t have to worry about it, and I wasn’t entirely clear on the rules as it was, not that I’ll be following them anyhow, but that bit’s beside the point.

The point, of course, is that I’ll be falling-down drunk on Saturday, November 4th, and I’ll be sharing it with all of you. I won’t be doing any real writing, to be sure - I can barely handle that when I’m sober, even if I don’t do as much of it as I’d like. No no, good people, you’ll be getting the grittiest, tritest, unfiltered-est crap that wanders haphazardly into the path of my train of thought, and very little of it is likely to make sense even to me, unless I stumble on some nugget of staggering genius regarding the existence of thought and humanity, in which case I hope I can draw a meaningful picture that will make sense in the morning.

I encourage you all to join me. For you locals, I’ll probably begin the evening with a few mixed drinks here at my place, then head down to the pub for a few pints (this part will hopefully feature notes scribbled furiously in my Moleskine), then stumble back here again, where I can be left alone while I beg the room to just sit still for a damn minute so I can find the pisser. Surely, it will be an evening to remember.

PS: I’ve had a couple of Jack & Coke’s this evening. Not only do I participate in NaDruWriNi, I even practice weeks beforehand. That’s how dedicated I am.

NaDruWriNi 2006?

Monday, October 9th, 2006 at 8:48 pm

Are there plans for a NaDruWriNi 2006? Last year was pretty interesting, but I haven’t seen anything about it this year, and abroad-abroad.org seems to be no more. If no one else is going to get the ball rolling, I’ll be more than happy to put up a site for it, but I don’t want to step on anyone else’s toes. Has anybody heard anything this year?

Hunged. Over.

I don’t remember drinking a gallon of rum last night, but the little man trying to kick his way out of my skull tells a different story.

But, Rob’s new house is good and warmed, and debauched, and carpet-stained a little, from drink spills, and debauched some more, for good measure. And I got to chat with a friendly cabbie and a homeless guy that told me I should braid my goatee for the ladies.

I think he’s right.

I’m glad I had the presence of mind to grab one of the really big Starbucks Frappuccinos at 7-11 last night, ’cause boy howdy do I need it now.

There’s A Lesson In Here Somewhere

Friday, February 10th, 2006 at 5:26 pm

I was drunk when I booked a flight home for Christmas (it seems to me like there should be federal regulations against that), so when Travelocity offered to sign me up for a trial with a couple different services, I was an easy sell.

Today I found out that I was charged $15 each for the both of them, and probably was in January, too.

Computers should come equipped with breathalysers.

We’re Out Of Bailey’s

Dear Google,

Where’s the nearest liquor store? On Glebe, you say? Gee whiz, that’s within stumbling distance! I won’t even have to go looking for it before the weekend hits!

Thanks Google!
