Fall

Me: I just slept for thirteen hours!

Roommate: That is awesome!

Me: It was!

Roommate: You’re just in time for kickoff!

Me: THAT is awesome!

I’ve always liked fall. I’m especially glad it’s finally arriving this year - I can’t even remember a time when it wasn’t hot as hell outside. It’s time to get some apple cider and a pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks and watch some football.

The other good news is that I’m feeling a lot better than I was a couple days ago. I woke up Tuesday with what sounded like a smoker’s cough, but turned into nausea, dizziness, and a gnarly headache by the time I was ready for work. I slept all day Tuesday and went to to the doctor Wednesday to find out I had a bronchial infection. Spent most of the week in bed, because I’d get dizzy any time I was upright. It was Friday afternoon before I finally started feeling like I could get out of bed for more than an hour at a time, and I’m still not back to normal. I went into the office yesterday to try to catch up a bit, but I only made it a couple hours before I started to feel like crap.

So that sucks. I’m going to try to get some stuff done this afternoon while I’m watching football, and hopefully I’ll be able to make it through a full day tomorrow.

Still Kind of Sick

After my post on Monday I was asleep by 9. I felt OK yesterday, and despite a lot of coughing and sneezing, I felt just fine most of today, but now I’m getting achey and tired. This has better clear up tomorrow, because I’m got Friday off and I’ve got big plans.

Also, we won the House, Rummy done quit, Britney done split, Virginia’s on the fence for a couple more weeks and maybe I should have voted, but I don’t technically live here.

Stupid Immune System

I woke up this morning feeling a little off, and just had a bad feeling about things. By 3 this afternoon, I was coughing and sneezing, that full-body ache was starting to set in, and my head was just starting to hurt - just a little, just so I’d know what to expect.

I should be at the DAR Constitution Hall right now to see Ted Leo & The Pharmacists open for Death Cab for Cutie, but I figured that no one wants a guy coughing and sneezing through a show, and I was bound to be pretty miserable as soon as they fired up the subs. I was looking forward to seeing Patrick and Risa there more than the bands - I like the music, but not as much as I once did, and I don’t get to see Pat and Risa very often (and, of course, I knew I’d miss the $40 I paid for the damn ticket). So that sucks. But, as I lay here in my PJs, wondering if it would be bad to just go to sleep now, I know that staying home was the right decision. I’m going to take some vitamins and crash early, because I really don’t want to deal with a cold all week.

Oh, That’s Better

J: You look a bit peckish. Actually, I’m not sure what that means.

Me: Hungry.

J: Oh. Well, you look like shit, then.

I’ve been producing a fantastic amount of snot these past few days.

Six-year-old me would be proud of myself.

Shit Went Bad

Dammit.

Last night started off really well, with the BBQ and all. It ended on a crappy note, when I knocked a bunch of water onto my laptop (I pulled it all apart this morning to let it dry out - I’ll probably try turning it on tomorrow).

The only thing I ate at the BBQ last night was a piece of chicken. I thought the middle looked a little undercooked, but it tasted fine so I figured it would be OK.

Lemme tell ya kids, it won’t be OK.

I have never been so violently ill before in my life. I felt like dying till sometime around noon, when I managed to pass out and sleep through it. I got up a little after 3, feeling a lot better, and figured I could make it into work at 4 and still do a half day. I was only in the shower for a minute when I decided that being upright wasn’t going to work out well for me, so I just called it a day. I’ve felt a little off all day, but I think I’m OK now. My head feels funny, but that’s from the cold.

So that sucks. But I figure, it’s the sickest I’ve ever been, and it really wasn’t that bad. Drinking too much freshman year really trains you to handle an upset stomach, and if I made it through this I should be able to handle anything. I’m kind of pissed that I had to miss work, but one day out of three months isn’t so bad.

Let’s hope tomorrow turns out better. I’m going to bed way early tonight.
